Large Touchscreen display with a variety of functions e.g. show maps, walks, historic photographs, videos etc
Create a catalogue of images of village history carefully categorised . Hopefully for on-line access and easy search for research
Layered maps that enable people to see how and why the village has grown and changes its character
Raise some money by selling Lymm related items –some manufactured some produced by local arts and crafts-people
Invited other organisations to use the space for temporary exhibitions – bearing in mind our local heritage “brief”
Create a shop window of bygone items – possibly based on a particular old Lymm shop
Digitize the trade directories to show growth and changes in village trading
Create a model of village as it looked perhaps 100 years ago
Create a moving model – possibly based around the railway station with reference to both Manchester ship canal and Bridgewater canal
Create a children’s tour of the village – quiz based ( we already have this available )
Create resource boxes for schools to borrow for their own activities. Perhaps containing images, documents, artefacts, toys etc on particular themes
An app based trail round the village that could respond to location and show people then and now type images
Re-enactment videos with actors or local school children describing life for a range of people and times
Reminiscence collection point either written or via recording.
Hold an antique roadshow type event as a fundraiser
Children’s competitions, writing, painting .making a video etc..
Activities for young people and students, work experience, research project for school or college project
Talks / Walks including for outside interest groups -possibly in co-operation with History Society
Catalogue a collection of artefacts – that we may hold or at least identify where they are.
Education activities for schools devised jointly with them – existing example “we love our canal” four day programme which runs prior to historic Transport Day.
Mobile displays so that room be adaptable as possible and possible to be used as large class room or venue
Some display of local activities and events
Possibly a traders noticeboard as an additional source of funding
Large screen and projector for presentations , possibly show films – need to be able to control lighting levels in the room.
More cards, books about Lymm and the local area on sale
Look for a possible regular sub-let to help supplement income.
Floor based display picking up on “Transport Theme” road, canal railway trail
Sliding story boards – that can be pulled out one from behind the other to maximise use of space
Re-create canal-boat cabin interior ( space limitation ?)
Children’s games, interactive displays –possibly even computer based
Dressing up clothes – especially if related to canal for outside photographs
Create a community play or musical that tells a story of Lymm
Lymm historic “open-house” day ?
Schools competition leading to exhibition
