LYMM  - A PLACE OF RUNNING WATER

New exhibition - opens June 21st

Lymm is in many ways a place defined by water as the meaning of the word itself suggests:  the brooks , the mill races and ponds, the dam. But it was the coming of first the Bridgewater Canal and then the Manchester Ship Canal that were to have the greatest impact on the lives of the inhabitants. They brought new faces, new work and new ways of living.

This new exhibition brings history to life by tell the stories  of the poeple who built the canals, worked on them and whose lives were changed by them. The exhibition makes imaginative use of large scale interactive maps, models, costumes, artefacts and video.

You are sure to learn and see something new!  We certainly did.
